Guidelines for publishing marketplace scripts

To ensure clarity, professionalism, and consistency in the marketplace, developers must adhere to the following guidelines when creating titles and descriptions for their scripts. These guidelines help users understand the purpose and requirements of your script while maintaining the Cereal marketplace's quality standards.

Title Guidelines

  • Keep it concise and clear: Use a brief, descriptive title that accurately conveys the script's functionality. Avoid unnecessary words or jargon.
  • Example: "Email Parser and Organizer"
  • Example: "Awesome Email Thingy!!! Organize Like a Boss"

  • Avoid promotional language: Titles should focus on describing the script, not on marketing. Refrain from using terms like “Best,” “#1,” or similar phrases.

  • Example: "Data Scraper for E-commerce Websites"
  • Example: "The Ultimate, #1 Scraper You’ll Ever Need"

  • Use proper capitalization: Follow title case conventions (capitalize major words, lowercase minor words like “and” or “the” unless they start the title).

  • Example: "Automated Task Scheduler"
  • Example: "automated task scheduler"

  • No special characters or emojis: Do not use unnecessary punctuation marks, symbols, or emojis.

  • Example: "Invoice Generator"
  • Example: "Invoice Generator!!! 🔥🔥"

  • Avoid version numbers in titles: Include version details in release notes, not in the title.

Description Guidelines

  • Start with a concise summary: Begin with 1–2 sentences that clearly describe the primary function and purpose of the script. Use plain language to help users quickly understand its value.
  • Example: "This script automates the extraction and monitoring of product prices from online stores. By tracking price changes over time, it helps identify drops, saving hours of manual effort in deal hunting."

  • Detail key features and functionality: Highlight the main features or benefits of the script in bullet points or short paragraphs.

  • Example:

    • Extracts product prices from multiple websites, including e-commerce platforms and online stores.
    • Automatically identifies price drops and sends notifications to users.
    • Supports exporting price trends and data to CSV and JSON formats.
  • Specify use cases: Provide examples of how the script can be applied in real-world scenarios to help users identify its relevance.

  • Mention external dependencies: Clearly list any external services, software, or tools required for the script to function (e.g., proxies, captcha solvers, or third-party APIs). Specify whether they are optional or mandatory, and provide links or guidance for obtaining them.

  • Example:

    • Requires a valid proxy service for web scraping tasks.
    • Requires third-party CAPTCHA solvers (e.g., 2Captcha, Anti-Captcha).
  • Avoid promotional language: Refrain from exaggerations, unnecessary superlatives, or vague claims.

  • Example: "Designed to streamline customer data collection."
  • Example: "The best automation tool that guarantees 100% success!"

  • Use professional and correct grammar: Ensure the description is free from spelling and grammatical errors.
